Use Recycle Bin (Windows) or Trash (Mac)

Check your recycling bin or trash to see if you pictures ended up there. If this is the case, select the files that you want to recover, then right-click and choose restore or Put Back from the menu. This will restore files to their original location prior to deletion.
Open the Computer folder that is located on the start menu. Locate the folder that the deleted images were saved prior to deletion. Make sure you are positive that it is the correct folder before you go any further. Right-click on the folder and choose “Restore previous versions.” You will then be able to review a list of older versions of the folder or files within this folder. You must then determine the best version of the picture files or folders and double-click on it. Move the deleted picture files or folders to a new location on your computer. It is a smart idea to create a new folder for these images.
Find and access the USB port to connect your camera to access your memory card on that camera. Some computers also have memory card readers that allow you to directly insert the card into the computer. Next step is to download a free photo recovery software for memory cards. Be careful about which program you use. Do your research before downloading. Once you have downloaded the software, follow the directions on how to begin the program. Depending on how many items need to be recovered, it may take a while to restore them.
